Roddy Ricch – 911
This is the (somewhat) comeback track from former prodigy of the rap game, Roddy Ricch.
If a vibe is what you are after and you aren’t one for finer details in music, I would strongly recommend this track. The bounce in the overly distorted 808 and strangely mixed drums is definitely a strong, and danceble one. The vocals are mixed well and the autotuned melodies are smooth. However, I feel as if, especially in headphones, that the bass is too saturated and distorted.
The lyrical quality is neither special nor poor, if you are simply in the mood for a vibe then the lyrical quality is not too much of a concern in the first place. The lyrics do not take away from the track in any way.
That is the whole track in a nutshell. Nothing is bad enough in quality to hinder the track in any way, whilst nothing stands out enough to bring the track up in quality. I could write another 3 or 4 paragraphs on my nerdy distastes with the mix, drums, and 808, but it would all be too petty considering that, at the end of the day, this simply an inoffensive, passable Rap/RnB track.
I cannot find any reason to give this track a rating neither lower or higher than a 5/10.
